Dog Depot Dog Park

800 Deerfoot Dr. 1.85 fenced acres with sally port entrances, agility elements, and three areas: large dogs, small dogs under 40 pounds, and a rotation area rested for regrowth. The city requires vaccination and a microchip, and bans all food inside, including treats. Hours 6am to 8pm April through September, 6am to 6pm in winter.

Old Settlers Park

640 acres at 3300 Palm Valley Blvd with about 3.3 miles of paved trail running past the Dell Diamond, the soccer complex, the pavilions and the lake. This is where the city holds its events and festivals, so on the wrong weekend a quiet training walk becomes a crowd exposure session.

The hike and bike trail network

Over 20 miles of built trails including the Brushy Creek Trail, wide concrete paths shared with bikes and scooters moving fast. Leash required, and a dog that chases wheels gets practice at it here daily.

Who makes the rules in Round Rock

The City of Round Rock, not the City of Austin. Enforcement runs through Round Rock Animal Control under Chapter 8 of the city code.

Dogs must be contained in a fenced yard, tied out, or on a leash at all times. In a park or public recreation area a dog counts as a public nuisance animal unless it is controlled by a leash or similar physical restraint.

The Dog Depot Dog Park at 800 Deerfoot Dr, 1.85 fenced acres and the only leash free ground in the city. Vaccination and microchip required, separate areas for large and small dogs, and no food of any kind allowed inside, which the city states includes treats.
