Your dog isn't broken
The advice you've been given is

You have tried treats. You have tried YouTube. You have tried the trainer who came to your house, smiled, and left you with the same dog you started with.

Here is what 30 years and 20,000 dogs has taught me. Dogs do not need bribery. They need structure and leadership. The aggressive dog, the leash puller, the anxious rescue, every one of them can be turned around. The breed is never the problem. Doodles, French bulldogs, shepherds, rescues, working breeds. Real world obedience, balanced methods, and a trainer who has actually seen it before, that is the solution.

By the time the phone rings, I am usually the third trainer the family has called. The positive only approach already failed. The dog is worse, not better. That is where my real work begins.

Meet Your Trainer

Helping your dog live in our human world

Brett Endes is a professional dog trainer and canine behavior consultant, now bringing The Dog Savant to Austin. He earned his Comparative Psychology degree from the State University of New York and graduated from the Academy of K9 Education, with 30 plus years and more than 20,000 dogs behind him.

His approach is balanced. Structure, leadership, and clear communication, not bribery with treats. He teaches you as thoroughly as he trains your dog, because lasting behavioral change asks the human to commit too. Doodles, French bulldogs, shepherds, rescues, working breeds. The breed is rarely the problem.

You may have seen his work on National Geographic, the Hallmark Channel, or his series The Untrainables, where he takes the cases other trainers walked away from.

To this day we are still using what Brett instilled in us. Your training is still appreciated years later. That says everything about the quality of his methods.

After 2 sessions with Brett, we attended a class with 25 other dogs. Our dog was completely calm and walked safely the entire time. Two sessions.

Finally, someone who focused on what motivates our dog and was willing to implement some structure instead of trying to bribe. The change in our dog is remarkable.

Common Questions

Questions I get asked every week

With a balanced approach, most owners see major behavioral changes within the first ninety minute evaluation. Lasting transformation requires the full package and consistent practice, but you will know by the end of session one whether this is working.

Treats have their place, but real obedience requires more than bribery. I teach owners how to motivate their specific dog through structure, communication, and earned rewards. A dog that only obeys when food is present is not trained, it is rented.

Yes. I specialize in cases other trainers have given up on. If you have been told your dog is untrainable, that is usually a sign the trainer did not know how to read your dog, not that your dog is beyond help. I have seen 20,000 dogs. I have not met an untrainable one.

Yes. I work with clients worldwide via Zoom and phone. My six session remote package is $1,495, the same rate as in person, and includes lifetime support and the same lifetime access as in person clients. Remote works because I am training the owner as much as the dog.

Greater Austin and the Hill Country, from downtown Austin to Round Rock, Cedar Park to Dripping Springs, Lakeway to Georgetown. I train across the whole Austin metro. See the full coverage map above, or visit the locations page for city specific information.
