Where Circle C Ranch dogs actually go

Circle C Ranch Metropolitan Park on Slaughter Creek

The neighborhood's City of Austin metro park: about 8.5 miles of crushed granite and single track trail along Slaughter Creek, plus soccer fields and a large disc golf course. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trails, and the single track sections mean close passes with runners, bikes and other dogs.

The Veloway

A 3.1 mile, 23 foot wide paved track built in the early 90s for bikes and inline skates, the first facility of its kind in the country, and completely off limits to dogs. Half the neighborhood does not know that until the day they get turned around at the entrance.

Mary Moore Searight off leash area

About 39 acres of designated off leash ground at the north end of Searight park, the closest legal off leash option, east along Slaughter Lane. Large, open and mostly unfenced, which makes it a reward for a finished recall rather than a place to build one.

Who makes the rules in Circle C Ranch

The City of Austin. Circle C sits inside Austin city limits, so Austin City Code Title 3 applies, leash of 6 feet or less on City land with fines up to $500.

Leash required, 6 feet or less, throughout Circle C Ranch Metropolitan Park's trail network. The Veloway is stricter still: no dogs at all, on foot or otherwise, per the city's own page.

None inside Circle C itself. The nearest designated off leash area is the roughly 39 acres at the north end of Mary Moore Searight Metropolitan Park, a short drive east along Slaughter Lane.
